Wild and idyllic the day starts with a walk through Partnach gorge, where the waters of Wetterstein massif meet. Continue via soft hills and alpine pastures to Klais or Mittenwald.
Precise stone masonry cut the route through the gorge into steep rock walls. Bold wooden footbridges cross up to 40m above the water. Enjoy the contrasting walk along Leutascher Ache into the valley. Past hamlets and meadows covered in flowers with the backdrop of the Wetterstein massif you walk into the widening Leutasch valley.
You have the choice: either to relax or to take a walk to the lakes in and around Seefeld. Alternatively you can opt for an excursion on one of the Seefelder summits, either walking or taking the cable car. Return to Leutasch by bus.
Short bus ride into Gaistal valley. The summer in Gaistal is enjoyed by Haflinger horses, brown and grey cattle as well as the Scottish Galloways. Walk on Ganghofer path right into picturesque scenery and up to Ehrwalder alpine pasture. Here Bavarian author Ludwig Ganghofer sought retreat. Take the cable car down into the valley and continue to Ehrwald.
Step by step you walk up to the foothills of Zugspitze and famous Eibsee scenic view. The tour ends on the banks of lovely lake Eibsee with full view of the magnificent Zugspitz-Garmisch panorama. Take the Zugspitz train back to Garmisch.

We require a 20% deposit to start booking all the individual elements of your trip, which is payable over the phone or online (the full balance is due 6 weeks prior to departure, so if you book less than 6 weeks in advance your deposit will be the full tour cost). Every trip is tailor made just for you, so we confirm availability individually and book all your accommodation and options, then send you final confirmation as soon as everything is confirmed (usually max 5 working days).
It really depends on the trip. We offer quite a variety of holiday grades to help you select the right level of activity. Always be honest with yourself about your abilities, and always do some training in the run up to your trip. You'd be surprised at what you can achieve, especially going at your own pace on one of our independent adventures. Your specialist is the best person to ask for advice on a specific trip. The active kind of holiday offers rewards like no other.
Many of our trips come with baggage transfer included (some have optional baggage transfer, and on very few remote trips baggage transfer is unavailable, but do check the exact tour inclusions). You will drop overnight bags (one per person) by an allotted time each morning in a designated area in your hotel or B&B. This leaves you free to walk unencumbered, with only your day pack of essentials. Your baggage will be transferred to your next night's accommodation, and will usually arrive before you do!
The most popular moutains of the Alps includes Mount Zugspitze (2962m), the highest mountain in Germany can easily be reached by cable car. During this week you walk around the base of this mountain, see it from different angles and come across stunning natural highlights. You will experience quite adventurous and sensational crossings of gorges, impressing the walker with their water gushing through narrow high rock walls. Enjoy idyllic alpine pastures and take your time to enjoy a typical Bavarian ‘Brotzeit’. On both sides of the Wetterstein massif you will find tranquil villages, ideally suited for a good nights rest.
Varied walking tour only requiring a good basic fitness level. You walk on well maintained walking trails and partly on forest paths. Higher gradients are managed mostly by transfers or cable car. Daily walking times are max. 5 hours.
